Host a Kingian Dinner in 2018!

At GlobeMed, we believe health is a human right.

To realize a day in which every human has the right to a healthy life, we cultivate young leaders who can shape more just, equitable, and healthy communities.

Critical dialogue has always been a cornerstone of our model. As we enter our second decade as an organization, we’ll be taking these dialogues into our communities through a new dinner series based on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Kingian Principles of Nonviolence.

Kingian Principles of Nonviolence – Nonviolence is a way of life for courageous people. The Beloved Community is the framework for the future. Attack forces of evil not persons doing evil. Accept suffering without retaliation for the sake of the cause to achieve a goal. Avoid internal violence of the spirit as well as external physical violence. The Universe is on the side of justice.

What is a Kingian Dinner?

A Kingian Dinner is a small gathering of people with interests or concerns around how our society can foster peaceful and nonviolent approaches to building community. Each will feature a speaker followed by a facilitated dialogue among the dinner guests.

Why Kingian Dinners?

As we reflect on the type of leaders we want to become, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s commitments to nonviolence, truth-seeking, and community resonate deeply with us. We hope to honor his legacy through this series.

How will Kingian Dinners work?

You can host a Kingian Dinner at your home or other convenient location. We ask that you provide the space and the people. We will work with you to organize food options.

GlobeMed will provide a speaker, most commonly one of our incredible alumni, as well as facilitators.

We can’t wait to dine and discuss ideas for building peaceful, healthy communities with you!
