Quickribbon The 2009 GlobeMed Leadership Institute – GlobeMed

The 2009 GlobeMed Leadership Institute

Evanston, IL

Northwestern University campus
Friday, Sep 11, 2009 – Sunday, Sep 13, 2009

When:

September 11-13th 2009

Where:

Evanston, IL - Northwestern University Campus

What:

The LI is an intensive 3-day training program that enables GlobeMed chapter leaders to develop the necessary skills and strategic plans for their year ahead. The weekend will provide an opportunity to meet inspiring peers from across the country, prepare your chapter for an exciting year, and provide a transformative experience on your path of leadership for global health equity.

"The institute overall made me a better leader. Through the workshops and discussions, I gained a better understanding of the workings, expectations, and goals of GlobeMed at both the National and Chapter level. This information has proved invaluable to lead our chapter in a positive direction. " - Evan Blank - President of GlobeMed at WashU

Who:

Up to three leaders from each chapter, ideally, one 'seasoned' President/VP and one younger eboard member (perhaps a sophomore Campaign Coordinator): We recommend two people from each chapter because this allows us to keep the group small (student:staff ratio can be low for high impact), and the participants will be able to share the experience with the other person from their Chapter. We can be flexible with who/how many your chapter is able to send if it is necessary.

Training at the 2009 Leadership Institute will focus on:

Leadership Development - You will strengthen and build your personal leadership skills, develop your members into leaders, as well as clearly communicate GlobeMed to inspire others to action.

Chapter Operations - You will learn to maximize the effectiveness of GlobeMed's programs at your campus, improve partner and project management, and  learn to maintain financial and legal policies.

Community Building - As a group we will set network-wide goals, meet the GlobeMed Network, share stories and best practices, and get inspired!
