Who We Are
Founded in 2006, GlobeMed at FSU is one of 46 GlobeMed chapters working to improve the health of people living in poverty around the world. We partner with Alternative for Rural Movement (ARM) in Orissa, India to support access to women’s and maternal health, education for youth, and improved hygiene and santiation.
Our Partner - Alternative for Rural Movement (A.R.M.) // Orissa, India
The Alternative for Rural Movement currently serves 24,134 families of the Balasore district in the state of Orissa, India. ARM’s mission is to establish an equitable social order through motivation, facilitation and self activity among rural communities with emphasis on women and children in the sphere of health education, human rights, economy and rural leadership. To date, ARM has immunized 6,316 children, reduced the infant mortality rate from 657 to 397 for every 100,000 children born, and reduced the maternal mortality rate from 112 to 72 for every 1,000 pregnant mothers.
