World Day of Social Justice: Recap

On February 20th GlobeMed commemorated the World Day of Social Justice day, meant to bolster efforts of the international community in poverty eradication, gender equality, full employment, and access to social well-being and justice. The GlobeMed student network held several demonstrations and awareness events across the nation. GlobeMed chapters also held potlucks and fundraising events to support their health partners and foster conversation with other students.
The celebration concluded with a nation-wide webinar featuring Laura Turiano of the People's Health Movement. Over 300 students gathered online to listen to Turiano speak about frameworks of human rights and social justice. She discussed her work in El Salvador and the links between politics and health.
