GlobeMed has developed a comprehensive set of programs to educate, enable, and inspire students across our network to understand growing inequities in global health and act to make an impact in the work of partner grassroots health organizations. GlobeMed’s approach to achieving our mission has three key elements:
Train students to lead GlobeMed chapters and become advocates for global health equity through:
- A year-round educational curriculum on global health
- Ongoing advising and mentorship provided by the National Office
- Annual Global Health Summit and Leadership Institute for students
- A web-based resource manual for all the tools and information required to run a chapter
Partner chapters with grassroots organizations to address health inequities in impoverished communities through:
- Identifying and recruiting partner grassroots organizations
- Helping chapters to organize fundraising campaigns for community-based projects
- Supporting chapters to organize effective trips to collaborate with partner communities on-site
Grow the movement for global health equity by:
- Starting new university chapters and strengthening existing chapters
- Engaging GlobeMed alumni, a pipeline of new leadership for global health
- Collaborating with peer organizations to share lessons and best practices
- Encouraging and informing university administrators and faculty to create new and improved global health programs for students
